Swara Bhaskar is an Indian actress and writer who is known for her work in Bollywood films. She was born on April 9, 1988, in Delhi, India. She comes from a family of actors; her father, Chitrapu Uday Bhaskar, is a retired Commodore in the Indian Navy, while her mother, Ira Bhaskar, is a professor of cinema studies at Jawaharlal Nehru University.



Swara Bhaskar completed her schooling from Sardar Patel Vidyalaya in Delhi and later pursued a Bachelor's degree in English Literature from Delhi University's Miranda House. She then went on to study law at Jawaharlal Nehru University, but dropped out after a year to pursue a career in acting.


Swara Bhaskar made her acting debut in the 2009 film "Madholal Keep Walking." However, it was her role in the 2011 film "Tanu Weds Manu" that brought her into the limelight. She played the role of Payal, the best friend of the lead character played by Kangana Ranaut. Her performance was widely appreciated and she won several awards for her role.


In 2013, Swara Bhaskar appeared in the film "Raanjhanaa" alongside Dhanush and Sonam Kapoor. She played the role of Bindiya, the sister of the lead character played by Dhanush. Her performance was once again praised and she received several award nominations for her work in the film.
